Supply Chain
Ontario Power Generation Inc. operates nuclear, thermal and hydroelectric and wind power generating assets. Our Supply Chain organization is committed to developing strategic sourcing initiatives with preferred suppliers. We focus on developing and including capable suppliers who can meet our price, quality, delivery and service level requirements.
In business dealings with OPG, suppliers are expected to act with integrity, adhere to high standards of ethical behavior and operate in the best interests of Ontario Power Generation.
Suppliers are also expected to not take any action that would cause OPG or any of its directors, officers, employees, agents or representatives to be in breach of any of the obligations set out in the Code of Business Conduct.
Most of OPG's procurement opportunities are restricted to vendors who have been pre-qualified by OPG as having the necessary expertise to bid on a particular type of opportunity, and are not open to all vendors that have successfully completed a vendor application with OPG.
Vendors with questions may address them to: smd@opg.com.
Contractor Management and Pre-Qualification
The Contractor Management Process requires that all contractors who wish to do business with OPG are pre-qualified based on a demonstration of their ability to manage the health and safety, environmental and quality aspects of the contracted work, in addition to satisfying the technical and commercial requirements of the work.
In Ontario, the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requires that every employer with more than five employees prepare a health and safety policy and a program to implement that policy. OHSA also requires that the employer review the health and safety policy at least annually.
In order to provide OPG assurance that its contractors take workplace health and safety seriously and will manage the health and safety of workers effectively and in compliance with occupational health and safety legislation while working for us, OPG has established a Contractor Management Process.
Supplier assessments will be done based on OPG’s knowledge of a current supplier’s capability or the need to qualify a new supplier based on the suppliers technical capability, quality assurance, environment, health and safety, and financial strength.
Transportation - Total Logistics
Transportation Services provides Ontario Power Generation Inc. with economical and reliable solutions for the transport of goods (domestic & international) by all modes of transportation no matter size, weight or complexity. The service also includes international trade consultation, management of transportation contracts, and ensuring compliance with all Federal and International regulations.
