[Pickering]: Ontario Power Generation's Pickering Unit 5 was safely shut down today to begin an outage that will involve inspections and maintenance on a variety of systems on both the nuclear and conventional segments of the unit.

Pickering 1, 4, 6, 7, and 8 are operating at or near 100 per cent, delivering over 2,500 MW of electricity to the Ontario electricity grid.
